San Francisco SPCA Presents: Bay to BARKers Cocktail Pawty and Adoptathon
The SF SPCA is putting a new spin on a classic San Francisco tradition
May 2, 2018 – Celebrate Bay to Breakers weekend at the San Francisco SPCA’s Bay to BARKers event, May 18 – 20! This year is the SF SPCA’s 150th anniversary, so connecting the springtime cocktail party and adoptathon theme with Bay to Breakers, a beloved San Francisco tradition, was a natural fit. Adult animals (6+ months) will be FREE to adopt Saturday and Sunday, May 19 – 20, at SF SPCA locations in the Mission and Pacific Heights.
“This year is milestone anniversary for the SF SPCA, and we’re inviting everyone to get involved,” said Dr. Jennifer Scarlett, SF SPCA President. “We want to celebrate the San Francisco community and everything that we’ve been able to accomplish together in the last 150 years. Bay to BARKers is an opportunity for San Franciscans to come together, enjoy a weekend of festivities, and help homeless animals get a second chance!”
Bay to BARKers kicks off Friday evening, May 18, with a cocktail party at the SF SPCA’s Mission Campus, 250 Florida Street, from 6pm – 9pm. Guests will enjoy open and top-shelf bars with animal-themed cocktails and Holy Craft beer; music by DJ Stevie Bumps; and delicious vegetarian food from Firetrail Pizza, Curry Up Now, and Bonito Poke. Bring your pet in costume and enter our live contest at 7:30pm! Prize packages will be awarded to the following categories: most original and most San Francisco!
The SF SPCA’s Companion Chronicles storytelling pod will be available for partygoers to share tales of their beloved pets, and guests can step into the Cuddle Experience to snuggle up with some of the SF SPCA’s cutest adoptables. Get 10 minutes of cuddle time for a $10 donation.
Bring home a party souvenir by printing a limited-edition Bay to BARKers Cocktail Pawty t-shirt, or join the Paint Your Pet portrait workshop. Pre-registration for the workshop is required.
RSVP is required for the cocktail party; unlock your ticket with a donation.
Special thanks to The Life of Riley Fund, which is generously underwriting free adoptions for all qualified adopters May 19 – 20. The Life of Riley Fund encourages people over 65 to easily adopt animals from the SF SPCA by underwriting adoption fees for seniors. Additionally, the fund will cover adopters’ first year of enrollment in the Sido program. Learn more at sfspca.org/sido
